At Halstead St Andrew’s, we believe that children flourish when they are known, valued and happy. Our purpose is simple: to nurture every pupil, give them the opportunities and confidence to thrive, and prepare them to succeed – at HSA, at their destination school and in the world beyond.
It is a great privilege to lead Halstead St Andrew’s and to see every day what makes our school such a special community. We are a family-oriented, co-educational Prep School where relationships matter, expectations are high and children are encouraged to become confident, rounded individuals.

These three words capture what we want for every child at HSA.
We nurture our pupils within a caring and supportive environment where every child is known as an individual. Our five values of endeavour, positivity, creativity, respect and kindness are lived throughout school life. We value care as much as curriculum because children achieve their best when they feel secure, supported and understood.
Kindness has a particularly important place within our school. It can be seen in the relationships between pupils and staff, in the way our children look after one another and in the warmth of our community.
We want every pupil to thrive. That means providing challenge and ambition in the classroom alongside a breadth of opportunities beyond it. Academic learning, sport, music, drama, art, creativity, leadership and enrichment all contribute to an education that helps children discover their strengths, develop new interests and challenge themselves.
We make no apology for putting happiness at the heart of this. Happy children learn better. At HSA, happiness and ambition go hand in hand.
We want our pupils to succeed in all aspects of school life and celebrate achievement in all its forms, both inside and outside school. From Nursery to Year 8, pupils benefit from the continuity of an education in which they are known and supported as they grow.
Our collaboration with the Effingham Schools Trust further strengthens that journey, providing a clear pathway through to 18 while preparing all pupils for their destination school of choice.
Our theatre, Forest School, sports pitches and swimming pool provide wonderful opportunities for pupils to explore their interests and develop their talents. More importantly, those opportunities are brought to life by staff who know our pupils exceptionally well and care deeply about their development.
I am enormously proud of the school HSA is today and excited about its future. There is a real sense of purpose across our community, grounded in our values and a shared ambition for every child.
