HSA to move to one site and delays Senior School expansion
Halstead St Andrew’s has announced from January 2026, the whole school will be based on its Church Hill House site.
Pupils from Nursery to Year 2 will join those from Years 3–8 on one site, enabling the school to continue to invest in high quality teaching, learning, and facilities for all pupils.
The expansion of the Senior school, into Year 9, will also be delayed until September 2027. This is due to the extremely small cohort currently in Year 8 and the financial viability of running this year group in the future.
Andrew Ward, Head, said: "This change brings the whole school community together on one site, providing greater shared experiences for all pupils, and much simpler logistics for parents and the school alike. We have more than 30 pupils who have joined Year 7 this September and are expecting similar numbers for September 2026. By aligning our structure now, we can continue to provide the very best opportunities for every child.”
The move will also bring other benefits too, including a new whole-school mentoring programme with more opportunities for younger pupils to learn from older role models. Outdoor play equipment will be relocated to Church Hill House and Pre-Prep pupils will benefit from greater access to subject specialist staff.
Mr Ward added: “We are not immune from the economic challenges facing all independent schools, with some schools closing or changing their models. However, this proactive step will help us build a strong and sustainable future for HSA. We are confident that Halstead St Andrew’s has a bright future ahead.
"The facilities at Church Hill House will be adapted to accommodate all pupils, and parents will be updated regularly as plans progress.”
